The SymplyPRO XTF Thunderbolt 3 LTO-9 Desktop Tape Drive from Symply is a professional magnetic tape storage unit that connects directly to a Windows, Mac, or Linux workstation or server, with no rack infrastructure required. Its desktop form factor features a full-height LTO-9 tape drive that supports a native capacity of 18TB and read/write speeds of up to 400 MB/s. It can also take advantage of 2.5:1 compression, which allows LTO-9 tapes to store up to 45TB and transfer data at speeds up to 1000 MB/s. System connectivity is established using dual Thunderbolt 3 ports, one of which provides daisy-chaining and up to 60W of charging power. A 12 Gb/s SFF-8644 SAS port provides another option for host connectivity, while a second 12 Gb/s SFF-8644 SAS expansion port lets you connect additional SAS devices. Also supported is 256-bit encryption, WORM media, a premium power supply with a cooling fan, and LTFS (Linear Tape File System) compatibility, making backup and archive operations easier to an open source and interchangeable tape format.

Dual Thunderbolt 3 ports feature daisy-chain support and compatibility with Thunderbolt 4/5 hosts, including one port that provides up to 60W of device charging.

SAS Host and SAS Expansion ports (via Thunderbolt bridge) allow connection to non-Thunderbolt workstations and attaching additional SAS devices to a computer via Thunderbolt.

This LTO-9 drive is able to read and write to both LTO-9 and LTO-8 tapes.

This full-height LTO-9 drive supports native tape capacities of 18TB and up to 45TB when compressed at 2.5:1, with up to 400 MB/s of native throughput and up to 1000 MB/s of compressed throughput.

Mount tapes like a removable drive for simple copy/move and interchange without heavy backup software.

On Windows and Linux, SymplyPRO Thunderbolt integrates with standard platform tools and LTO software stacks, such as IBM tape drivers, IBM Spectrum Archive LTFS, and ITDT diagnostics. On macOS, SymplyATOM provides streamlined tape operations, allowing you to format, mount/eject LTFS, one-click diagnostics and log capture, and in-app firmware updates for SymplyPRO drives. This ensures straightforward deployment in mixed environment.
