This converter requires no power source, as it gets its power from your micro-HDMI source, but because it converts both video and audio, the power coming from your micro-HDMI source may not be enough, depending on the source. For this reason this converter also has a USB port for supplementary power -- whenever your micro-HDMI source doesn't provide enough power, just plug in a USB cable running from your computer, or connect a USB power adapter, and you'll have sufficient power.
