Popular among professional audio engineers, the matte gray Schoeps Colette CMC 1 L Microphone Amplifiers and MK 5 Omni/Cardioid Capsules Stereo Set is an ultracompact, space-saving Colette Series modular microphone bundle that includes two CMC 1 L (mini LEMO output) miniature microphone amplifiers, a matched pair of MK 5 switchable, omnidirectional/cardioid mic capsules, two K 5 LU LEMO to XLR 3-pin male cables, two SGC miniature stand mounts with swivels, two B 5 D solid-foam popscreens, and a premium case for secure transport and storage.

Nearly an all-purpose capsule recommended for those starting out with the Colette Series, the MK 5 is a true, one-diaphragm system with mechanical switching between omnidirectional and cardioid patterns. The result in each setting is like an independent microphone capsule with the same quality as the MK 2S / MK 4, and very similar (though not identical) frequency- and polar-response characteristics.

Thanks to the inclusion of the ultracompact CMC 1 L amplifier, this bundle serves as a lighter and smaller alternative to the acclaimed CMC 6 amplifier without compromising sonic performance.

The matte gray Schoeps CMC 1 L is a miniature Colette Series microphone amplifier offering uncompromising high fidelity in a lightweight and ultracompact form factor for studio recording, broadcast, and live stage applications. Presented as an alternative to the renowned Schoeps CMC 6 amplifier, the CMC 1 L is compatible with all existing MK mic capsules and Colette active accessories (all available separately).

It features a balanced mini LEMO output, compliance with 12V or 48V phantom power, and low current consumption. Its Schoeps RFI Shield provides high immunity from RF interference for a clean, low-noise signal. The CMC 1 L supports the high maximum SPLs tolerated by the various MK mic capsules (available separately). A stand adapter and a 16.4' mini LEMO to XLR 3-pin male adapter cable are supplied with the CMC 1 L.

Electrical characteristics of the CMC 1 L are equal to, or even better than, those of the CMC 6 (flat frequency response, very low distortion, and constant output impedance across the audio frequency range)

The fact that full response is maintained to the high audible frequencies is unusual for a switchable-pattern microphone.

In its omnidirectional setting, this MK 5 Microphone Capsule is a true pressure transducer with smooth, extended low-frequency response, low sensitivity to most wind and breath noise, handling noise or mechanical vibration, and no proximity effect. This capsule has a cardioid setting that retains its full directionality even at very low frequencies. The benefits of this design are in its purity and clarity of sound which is immediately audible. This capsule has a slight high-frequency emphasis.
