Product highlights and buying context
Designed as a complete microphone setup for location recording in film work, broadcasting, electronic news gathering (ENG), and field production applications, this Fotohaus Klinger Kit eliminates the guesswork in configuring a shotgun microphone system that delivers high quality, reliability, and low handling noise for indoor and outdoor environments. It features the black Rode NTG3B moisture-resistant shotgun microphone, a deluxe windshield, a universal shoe/pole shockmount, a pistol grip, a cabled aluminum boompole, a boompole bag, short and long right-angled XLR cables, and Ty Ford's Audio Bootcamp Field Guide to provide you with everything necessary for capturing audio for video, film, and sound design applications.
Capture broadcast-quality sound indoors or outside for your next indie film, TV shoot, or documentary project with the black Rode NTG3B moisture-resistant shotgun microphone. Professional-level features such as low-noise circuitry, upgraded immunity to radio-frequency interference, and minimal handling noise reduce the need to repair and restore audio in postproduction.
The NTG3B's high sensitivity allows it to produce strong output levels without having to apply extreme gain at your mic preamp. Sonically, the NTG3B delivers consistently clear sound due in part to its gentle rise in high frequencies and its rumble-reducing attenuation of low bass frequencies. Its switch- and dial-free design lets you set up quickly and focus on the sound instead of fiddling with various mic settings. The solid brass housing is both durable and lightweight, and its anti-glare finish prevents reflections in the shot.
When your work takes you outdoors, you're bound to encounter humidity and condensation, which can cause many mics to fail. The NTG3B's RF bias technology makes it almost completely resistant to moisture, allowing you to reliably capture high-quality audio in normal and adverse environmental conditions. It also includes a weatherproof aluminum storage cylinder for maximum protection during travel.
The NTG3B was engineered for broadcast-quality sound, enhanced immunity to RF (radio frequency) interference, and low handling noise. Plus, its balanced output allows longer cable runs than most camera-mount shotgun microphones.
The combination of the NTG3B's 10" long body and supercardioid polar pattern yields focused on-axis directionality with maximum rejection behind the mic. Its low self-noise of 13 dBA and highly sensitive condenser element communicate detailed audio unburdened by the hiss that plagues many low-cost microphones.
Thanks to its 3-pin XLR output and compliance with 44 to 52 VDC phantom power, the NTG3B is compatible with a variety of handheld audio recorders, field recorders, and mixer adapters, as well as built-in preamps on many camcorders and cinema cameras.
The NTG3B includes a mic clip for easy placement on a mic stand or boompole. Alternatively, mount the NTG3B in the Rode SMR-4 shockmount (available separately) to impede the transfer of vibrations between your boompole and the mic.
