The XID8600 Dual-Sided Retransfer ID Card Printer with Magnetic Stripe Encoder, Contact Chip Encoder & Contactless Chip Encoder from Matica is a dye-sublimation retransfer card printer designed for printing identity, membership, and credit/debit cards. It features integrated USB/Ethernet connectivity for standalone printing and comes with a camera for card photos. The 600 dpi printer produces up to 120 cards per hour, single-sided with simplicity. The input and output hoppers hold 200 cards and 100, respectively. An easy-to-use interface makes operation easy, and the printer's modest footprint and stylish good looks make it suitable for any office environment. This printer includes a magnetic stripe card encoder, which stores data by modifying the magnetism of tiny iron-based particles on a band of magnetic material on the card. It also includes the contact and contactless chip encoder. Contact smart cards have an embedded integrated chip that is programmed or read by direct contact with the chip's gold-plated contact pads. These pads provide electrical connectivity when inserted into a reader or encoder. The contactless chip encoder on the other hand, differs in the way the information is encoded to the chip. Instead of contact pads, the contactless card is connected to an RFID antenna, enabling communication through radio waves.
