The XID8600 Dual-Sided Retransfer ID Card Printer with Contact Chip Encoder & Contactless Chip Encoder from Matica is a dye-sublimation retransfer card printer designed for printing identity, membership, and credit/debit cards. It features integrated USB/Ethernet connectivity for standalone printing and comes with a camera for card photos. The 600 dpi printer produces up to 120 cards per hour, single-sided with simplicity. The input and output hoppers hold 200 cards and 100, respectively. An easy-to-use interface makes operation easy, and the printer's modest footprint and stylish good looks make it suitable for any office environment. The printer includes both the contact and contactless chip encoders. Contact smart cards have an embedded integrated chip that can is programmed or read by direct contact with the chip's gold-plated contact pads. These pads provide electrical connectivity when inserted into a reader or encoder. The contactless chip encoder on the other hand, differs in the way that information is encoded to the chip. Instead of contact pads, the contactless card is connected to an RFID antenna, enabling communication through radio waves.
