With a magnetic stripe encoder, contact chip encoder, and contactless chip encoder, the versatile XID8300 Dual-Sided Retransfer ID Card Printer is a well-featured printer that utilizes dye sublimation and thermal transfer processes to quickly create 300 dpi resolution prints. This dual-sided printer works with CR-80 adhesive back card sizes and can print over-the-edge retransfer printing. The printer is also fast with the ability to print 120 cards per hour in single-side mode. The printer can also hold 200 cards in the input hopper and 100 cards in the output hopper. The XID8300 provides easy setup and operation. It has USB 2.0 and Ethernet for connecting to a computer or network. This printer includes a magnetic stripe card encoder, which stores data by modifying the magnetism of tiny iron-based particles on a band of magnetic material on the card. It also includes the contact and contactless chip encoder. The contact chip encoder can be added inline to most of Matica's centralized and desktop card issuance systems. Contact smart cards have an embedded integrated chip that can is programmed or read by direct contact with the chip's gold-plated contact pads. These pads provide electrical connectivity when inserted into a reader or encoder. The contactless chip encoder on the other hand differ in the way that information is encoded to, or read from the chip. Instead of contact pads, the IC in a contactless card is connected to a RFID antenna enabling communication through radio waves.
