It also prevents stray light from entering the lens to maintain accurate exposures, and its matte finish helps reduce lens flare. To install, screw the sturdy aluminum hood onto the front lens element via its resin-constructed bayonet mount. The hood accommodates a filter with a 58mm thread and includes a protective hood cover.
