Product highlights and buying context
The Evno SPX2-W2 system combines the advanced SPX2 double-element, instrument-mount soprano saxophone microphone with Evno's dual-channel W2 wireless system to deliver unmatched clarity, detail, and realism. Handcrafted in the USA, this system is purpose-built for capturing the full nuance of the soprano saxophone in both solo and ensemble contexts, without coloration and with exceptional feedback resistance.
Please note that while the SPX2-W2 is a dual microphone system, both the included mics use a single A1 transmitter. A second, separately available transmitter/microphone combination is required to access the second channel on the W2 receiver.
The SPX2 features two carefully tuned microphone capsules mounted to a single bell-mounted clamp. Designed to reproduce the full voice of the soprano sax, one element is positioned above the keys and the other in front of the bell. Their predetermined frequency mix balances tone and projection, capturing the most natural acoustic image possible.
Ideal for soloists, section players, and high-volume settings alike, the SPX2 avoids common feedback issues while preserving tonal detail—even in loud environments. Each mic body is precision-machined with optimized venting and suspended in a 7-point O-ring system to minimize handling noise and vibration. The integrated Flex-Stay goosenecks hold each mic's position securely and adjust easily for proper placement. The mic setup terminates in a 3-pin mini-XLR connector and supports both wired (with the separately available PS95 phantom power adapter) and wireless rigs with the included A1 transmitter.
The included SX-CL clamp provides fast, stable mounting to the bell of the soprano saxophone. A spring-loaded grip ensures consistent height and placement, while a secondary reinforcement screw locks the mics in place for active stage use. It's compatible with all Evno SX-series mics for alto, tenor, and baritone saxophones.
At the heart of the system is the W2 dual-channel receiver, which supports two microphone transmitters at once. Simply add an additional Evno mic and transmitter combination for compact, dual-channel performance that accommodates two performers simultaneously. Independent XLR outputs allow for separate EQ and volume control of each channel, with a 328-foot wireless range and diversity antennas providing stable, dropout-free performance. The system is well-suited for live shows, ensemble settings, and multi-instrument performances.
The half-rack receiver is built into a metal chassis and includes a rackmounting kit and BNC extension cables. The antennas feature BNC locking connectors for rear or remote mounting. An LCD display provides clear readings of frequency, audio, and RF levels, while two XLR outputs and a 1/4" output offer flexible connection options.
The included A1 transmitter clips directly to the dual-microphone assembly, eliminating bulky beltpacks. A pair of Flex-Stay goosenecks (5.5 and 4") allow precise mic placement. A precision shockmount system reduces unwanted handling noise while preserving tone clarity.
